- 19/06/2026
The seventh edition of the SEAMLESS Newsletter is now available, bringing readers inside one of the most important milestones achieved by the project so far: the Demonstration Use Case 1 (DUC1) Demonstration Day.
Held on 3 June 2026 in Horten, Norway, the event showcased how autonomous vessels, remote operation centres, smart cargo handling systems and advanced digital logistics platforms can work together as part of an integrated and efficient logistics ecosystem. Bringing together industry leaders, technology developers, researchers, students and public stakeholders, the demonstration provided a unique opportunity to experience the future of automated waterborne transport in action.
This edition highlights the key moments from the event, including presentations and discussions with leading experts from MacGregor, Kongsberg Maritime, SINTEF Ocean and the maritime automation community, as well as live demonstrations of the technologies and operational concepts developed within SEAMLESS.
Readers will discover how the project is progressing towards its vision of safer, more resilient and sustainable logistics systems, while supporting Europe’s ambition to accelerate the modal shift from road transport to waterways. The newsletter also features media coverage generated by the demonstration, showcasing the growing international interest in autonomous and remotely operated maritime transport.
As SEAMLESS moves towards its next large-scale demonstration activities, this issue provides valuable insights into the technologies, partnerships and innovations that are helping shape the future of waterborne logistics.
